Designers use Linear Algebra and Physics to make games feel real. Without math, Mario falls through the floor.

History

The first 3D games used 'Ray Casting'—a trigonometry trick—to look 3D on flat screens.

Key Idea

Vectors determine which way a character faces. Matrices determine how they rotate.
